DBT Summer Workshop Series

An 8-Session Intro to DBT Skills

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based therapeutic modality that has been proven effective in managing intense emotions, reducing self-harming behaviors, and improving communication and relationships. This group will focus on building the skills in each of the four modules of DBT: core mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance. Does your daughter:

- struggle with managing intense emotions like anger, sadness, or anxiety?

- judge herself or others critically?

- engage in self-harm or self-destructive behaviors?

- have a difficult time seeing the positives?

- struggle with making friends or having healthy relationships?

- make impulsive decisions that are not in her best interest?

If so, DBT skills training can help. DBT is an evidence-based program that teaches teens the skills they need to cope effectively, manage impulses, improve relationships, and improve self-judgment.

This 8-session workshop is designed to:

- give your daughter an intro into the DBT program OR be a reminder and follow-up for those who have already been through a DBT skills group

- Give your daughter actionable steps and skills to practice during the week and over the course of the summer

  • mindfulness exercises to help decrease impulsivity and urges

  • skills to practice non-judgment and self-compassion/acceptance

  • skills to utilize during intense emotional moments - how to understand her emotions AND how to cope with them

  • learning ways to be assertive and communicate her needs to others in a way that works
